20/02/10 We have decided to make it easy for parishioners who use the church website, to keep updated with news and views concerning the legalisation of Assisted Suicide. Keir Starmer, (Director of Public Prosecutions) is about to publish guidelines which will provide those who want to ‘help others die’, with a “check-list” of how they can avoid prosecution whilst achieving their purposes. Such a move may have dire consequences for all those who are physically, mentally or emotionally vulnerable in society, especially the elderly and terminally ill. It will also undermine the most fundamental of our Christian values; The right to life and the right to good palliative care.
There is also a letter which you can easily print off and post encouraging him to uphold the law as it stands on Assisted Suicide. click here to view the page.
